Your data
Privacy Policy
How York Hoarding collects, uses and protects your personal information, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
Who we are
York Hoarding (yorkhoarding.co.uk) is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about how we use your information, please email hello@yorkhoarding.co.uk (hello@yorkhoarding.co.uk).
We understand that enquiries about hoarding can be deeply personal. We collect only what we need, and we treat everything you tell us in confidence.
What we collect
When you use our quote form or contact form, or email us directly, we may collect:
- your name, email address and, if you give it, a phone number;
- the address or general area of the property;
- details you choose to share about the home, the situation and the help you need;
- photographs of the property, if you choose to upload them (this is always optional);
- the content of any messages we exchange.
Please share only what you are comfortable with. You do not need to give health information to make an enquiry. If you choose to tell us about someone's health or circumstances, we use it only to plan appropriate, sensitive help.
Why we use your information
- to reply to your enquiry and provide a quote;
- to arrange and carry out any work you ask us to do;
- to keep records we need for accounting, legal or insurance purposes if the enquiry becomes a job;
- to keep our website secure and working properly.
Lawful basis
We rely on the following lawful bases under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR):
- Steps before entering into a contract, and performance of a contract, when you ask for a quote or book work.
- Legitimate interests, when replying to general enquiries and keeping our website secure.
- Legal obligation, where we must keep certain records, such as financial records.
- Explicit consent, for any health-related information you choose to share. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, so that we can answer any follow-up questions. If an enquiry becomes a job, we keep the related records for as long as needed for legal, accounting and insurance purposes. Photographs are deleted once they are no longer needed for your quote or job.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run our business, namely our email provider and our website hosting provider, who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. We may disclose information if required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
- ask for your data to be transferred to you or another organisation, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email hello@yorkhoarding.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

We count page views using a basic, first-party, privacy-friendly method that does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. See our cookie policy for more.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
